Friday 11pm

I went for a walk today but it was just too hot, I walked for a couple of hours but near the end I had to go into a mall for the aircon, I walked a little afterwards, I was only about 15 mins walk away from home but I simply had to take a taxi..... I was burning up and my hair was soaked with perspiration.

It was only 90* but felt like 100*... oddly enough that is the expression that they use on the official website.... they give you the official temperature but also what it feels like too.... maybe because of the humidity, although that is still on the low side at only 67%.

In the UK, traffic wardens are hated and abused ( I've never understood that as they are just doing a job), in my street here we have permanent traffic wardens that are based here, they are well respected as they are part of law enforcement, they even take the money from you for your parking, this leaves them open to corruption. But I have never seen anyone say anything abusive to them, if they say you can't park there then you simply don't.

There is so much more respect here for people in authority, I always remember watching drunken young guys outside the pubs in the UK late at night arguing with the police, even pushing, swearing and abusing the police officers..... they wouldn't do that here, when police stop you or decide to speak to you, you say "yes sir" and you WILL be very polite or you will find that they don't have the politically correct views that UK police have to work under.

Of course it's the family culture here that is the real reason for such good behavior, a child talking back to an adult never mind their parents would be very rare. Their family structure is so well maintained with siblings, uncles, aunties all showing them how a family behaves within itself, this spills over into the other parts of their lives with friends and strangers too.

What can we say about family culture in the UK.........mmmm, too many parents shouldn't be parents, lots of them shouldn't even be in charge of their TV remote control never mind a child.

That's my little rant for today.

So it's TGIF yet again.... I hope you all have a great weekend.

HI Gerard, how are you? it's now down to the wire for us too, only a few days left of the 80s and back to zero temperatures in Toronto, (and snow)..Oh well we can look forward to a nice hot summer and back down here in the winter, (that's the life)....we could come for six months but we like to be with the family for Christmas, we head down usually on Boxing day..How many days do you have left, I guess you are savouring every minute you have left now, that's exactly the stage we are at...I see Anne's back again, also it's good that helen has joined the club, she is doing pretty good, and I do hope she keeps it up...well Gerard, ENJOY! the next few weeks (if you have that left) and just remind yourself how lucky you were to be able to do all the stuff you did in the past seven months, it's been a dream come true, (and I will be your agent if you publish your book)...next time you hear from me we will be back in Canada using my own computer, right now I am in the library. Safe journey home to the Uxbridge.. take care, luv Mary..

Just a little note to let you know I am checking and reading your Blogg. It may sound bad but if I being honest there are a lot of people in Skegness for example I wouldnt like even to speak too they are just awful it sounds snobby doesnt it but all my friends feel the same and I dont think we would be classed as snobby. They are just repulsive rude and thick, I dont sound very nice do I. For example I am being polite opening the door at say the bank they dont even say thanks just walk in, so rude Im ranting same as you are we getting old.

Love Janxx

Hi Gerard,

Its not only Gerard/ Anne's blog everyone is joining in, do you feel important.
Is it this weekend for your tourney, hope all goes well and your teams come out on top. What do the winners get, is it a trophy the same as here.

We had a lovely day today but the forecast for the weekend is horrible, never mind, your weather would be just too much for me. A little in between would be excellent.

Have a great time with your badminton, is this the last tourney or will you be able to squeeze in another.

Take care

LOL

Hi Mary, I meant couldn't you stay there until the snow is finished... say until june/july ?
I leave on April 9th so about 11 days left :-(
Look forward to hearing from you when you are back in Toronto.

Hi Jan, I know what you mean so no problems. Opening the door thing, that actually happens everywhere, even here... if it happens to me as they pass me I say " you're welcome".... they sometimes look at me strange and if they Say " why welcome"... I reply " oh I thought you said Thanks to me for holding the door for you"... that gets them!!!

Hi Anne, Yes we now have yourself, Mary, Jan and sometimes Helen, Patsy hasn't commented for a while, we also have Gary and a few work friends of mine sometimes comment too. I think a few others read it too but prefer to remain anonymous.

It's nice to get comments simply because then I know someone is reading my blog and finds it interesting... hopefully.

Yes my first tourney is tomorrow, I have to be there before 8am as I am doing the opening speech.
I won't be able to see any more as they are months apart.
The winners get expensive medals in a glass desktop thingy.

So your weather is not so good, the sun is shining here but it is hot. It is uncomfortable when it is so hot but I prefer to see the sunshine rather than rain, as I can sit in my condo with the aircon but still see sunshine !!
