just another night............ Wednesday 10pm

Well no-one posted om my last post titled "the poor of the the Phils", was that a coincidence or was it a bad post !!!!!

Thanks for Xmas cards received from Helen, Patsy, Anne,Mary and today from Jan and Maurice.....thank you all. Anyone received mine yet ?

Tuesday was a quiet day as I just returned from Angeles city. If you remember I asked about staying there over Xmas as the dinner looked good but my room was booked. When I went to reception to pay my final bill, the young lady had been good to me allowing me to store my laptop in their safe whenever I went out, I gave her 150 pesos (£1.50) as a tip, she asked if I was returning, I explained that I tried but no luck, she then told me that I could have my room again for Xmas if I wanted it, so I agreed and booked it again for 3 days over Xmas. I haven't paid anything so I can always cancel if I change my mind. The point here is... always tip the right person!!

Hope you are all enjoying the build up to Xmas... I'm sure that some of you will be getting stressed out preparing for family get togethers and buying pressies etc. Thats one of the advantages of being single and alone.... I don't have to buy anyone a pressie...... of course the flip side is that you don't receive many either.. but I can cope with that.

Enjoy your week

Hi gerry
Its Paul and I'm so sorry for not getting back to you sooner. You know whats its like at St. A's and with Sally breathing down my neck and wanting so much done its been nigh on impossible. YOU can say no but I have to go home with her!!!!
Anyway Sals out with some friends(I'm not allowed out to play) and I've got jobs to do(of course) so I'll get back to you later.
We've had a long e-mail from Ruth so I'll send a copy to you in your late xmas card.
Everything is fine at school apart from the fact that we STILL HAVE NO HOT WATER (OR VERY LITTLE). Can you believe that eh. Dodgy english builders probably-should have used some of the illegal immigrants. Not very ethical I know but at least the job would have been done properly.

Got to go so take care of yourself, have a great christmas. I'll drink a few glenmorangie's to you. Your dinners in the post, hope its still warm when it arrives-lol.

Paul, Sally and Ben

Hi Gerard, I was shocked to see how bad the poverty is in the Phils, we dont realize how the other half live, and its just your luck as to what country your born into, like winning the lottery, (so I guess we must have won it) it must be sad for you to see the poverty first hand, knowing your going back to Britain and a richer lifestyle. I did read your blog yesterday, I thought I should leave some space for Anne to answer.. Glad to hear your going back to Angeles City for Christmas, you will enjoy your Christmas dinner in the nice hot sun. I have'nt received your Christmas card as yet Gerard, but it will probably come soon. so take care Gerard, I think we are having a green Christmas the 12 inches we got is starting to melt. good... ttyl Mary

Hi Gerard,

Received your Christmas card this morning, thanks very much.

Sorry didnt answer your blog but I have been busy with the dog as she needed to be watched all the time as she would lick her stitches and they would eventually burst. We got good news from the vet, Jets tumour was not malignant and neither was the one in her mouth. They did say that the one in her mouth is an aggesive one and might reoccur. She doesnt have control over her hind legs, she keeps falling down. They said it was a blood clot in her spine and if is doesnt disperse they would have to operate. With her being almost 14 years it would be a big decision.

Are you glad to be back in Manila? or are you missing Angeles City already. Thats good news that you are going back for a couple of days over Christmas. Remind me how far is Angeles City from Manila. Do you have to fly, what other means of transport is there? I will remember to always tip the right person.

I'm not enjoying the build up to Christmas as I work on the Disney site and we are sending out thousands and thousands of percels daily. These all have to be invoiced, I can receive an invoice with 150 pages of small letters of individual parcels.

Kevin,Kelley, Leigh,Dave, Kelleys mum, Daves two children and his niece are all coming Christmas day, a total of 10, which is a nice number.

I read your blog about the poor in the phils, its very sad but these people dont know any different. That doesnt make it any easier but there are so many of them in the same boat. What does the government do about it.

Well Gerard it is almost 1am again. So will say goodbye and take care of yourself.

Lots of love

Hi Paul... the one wivout the grey hair.........I can't lie to that degree !!!
Yes sorry won't see any of you at xmastime......stop cheering !!!

Hi Paul... St. Andys... yes I always found the Polish guys to be much better workers than the Brits.
Look forward to Ruths' letter and the Xmas dinner... Sal still owes me a dinner for 4 from the auction... so I hope to eat well on my return !!!!

Hi Mary, yes you're right, it does depend on what country you are born in or the family status if you are really lucky.
Good luck with the green Xmas, preferable to that white fluffy stuff.

I hope jet gets better and hopefully that you don't have to make that decision... I suppose though that you have to go with whatever can help her.
I'm ok with being back in Manila as it's where I live. Angeles is just over 2 hours drive from here, I could fly but it's just as fast by bus.
Yes it's understandable that the Disney site will be busy at this time of year, I'd worry more about cooking for 10 though.... it's always so little fun for the hosts.
The government don't do much as there is so much corruption, they basically just spend their term in office keeping themselves there... there is so much attacks on the president.. by that Imean attempts to get her out via accusations of corruption or by coups.
It's just a constant battle for them to stay in power to enjoy the fruits of it.
Poor people are just pawns, they are there and have to be tolerated as they have a vote.

Hello Gerard, I recieved your card today, thanks. The poverty there is so dire I dont think I could handle it especially the children, I am afraid I would be tempted to take them home with me & give them a real good dinner ,I know the numbers are too large to make a difference even to fill a few bellies is better than doing nothing. I was up visiting Margo yesterday [Royal Infirmary ] surprisingly she looked quite well she has a few tests to get today & maybe allowed out at the weekend . Its difficult to write to you Gerard as our lives arent as varied as yours, still I untend to have as merry a Christmasas I can hopefully you do too . love Patsy......
